Therapist Bio

Jay Foote, MSW, LISW, MM, AMSAT

Therapist & Director of Operations

Jay is accepting new clients.

Improving emotional well-being, discovering meaning, exploring values, managing stress, anxiety/OCD and depression, increasing embodiment, boosting self-confidence, and developing increased mindfulness and awareness are some of the ways I help my clients. I also work with individuals dealing with spirituality concerns, men's issues, ADHD symptoms, sleep and insomnia, artistic development, struggles with online life and social media, and chronic pain.

I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), mindfulness, compassion-focused, and somatic therapies to help you focus on who you are, where you have been, and the changes you desire for your life and relationships. I work to create a friendly, creative, and confidential space where you can learn to feel at ease with your past, be clear about your present, and direct your future.

No matter how large the problem seems or how stuck you feel, I encourage you to reach out.

Therapy is my second career. From 2003 to 2020, I worked as a professional musician and Alexander Technique Teacher in New York City. I am the founder and director of Alexander Technique Des Moines.

Specialty areas: mindfulness, somatic, anxiety/OCD, emotional regulation, ADHD/awareness, sleep health, and artistic development.

Seva accepts Wellmark/Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna insurances and private pay.

I recommend a complimentary 15-minute video consultation to ensure we're a good fit.

Jay’s office is in the e5w location.
