Dawn Hafner, Clinical Intern
Clinical Intern
Dawn is accepting new clients.
I am a clinical intern at Seva Counseling in Des Moines, Iowa, completing my masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. As an intern, I'm able to provide counseling services at a reduced cost. This may be useful to those without insurance coverage or those with limited financial options.
I am especially passionate about supporting young adults and adults who are working through the effects of trauma, navigating depression and anxiety, or seeking to build healthier relationship boundaries. I also enjoy helping clients explore questions of personal identity and purpose, guiding them as they cultivate self-acceptance and resilience. I am LGTBQ affirming.
Before entering the mental health field, I spent over 20 years in the corporate sector, where I developed a strong foundation in leadership, and communication. That experience taught me the value of collaboration, empathy, and clear direction—skills that inform my approach to counseling. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.
My therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), while also drawing on somatic practices and mindfulness techniques.
Healing involves both mind and body, and I aim to help clients deepen their self-understanding, reconnect with their inner strengths, and foster lasting emotional well-being.
If you feel ready and are seeking some non-judgmental support, I invite you to reach out!
Specialty Areas: Individuals, LGTBQ, Anxiety Disorders, including Panic, and Depression
As a clinical intern, I do not accept insurance payments or offer regular service fees. My clients are offered a significantly reduced service fee instead.
